I’m Shakur — well, kind of.
My real name is Kaitlyn, but Shakur is the alias I chose to create from. I picked it because of the controversial legend himself, Tupac Shakur. Even with everything that surrounded his life — the chaos, the gang affiliations, the noise — I always admired how he saw the world so colorfully. He cared deeply about people, about truth, about helping, about expression. He reminded me that art doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful… it just has to be honest.

And that’s exactly how I paint, messy, expressive, emotional, and real.
I let the brush speak for me — the parts I’m releasing, the stories I’m processing, the ironies I’m noticing. The chaos on the canvas is intentional: that’s where the life is.

I’ve been blessed with this gift since I was a kid. My right hand has been my paintbrush since elementary school, where my art teacher told me, “You’re an artist.” I didn’t believe her then — but life has a funny way of circling back to what’s meant for you. I grew into art, and it grew into me.

I love painting faces, emotions, energies, and expressions that make you feel something — that make you notice the irony, the beauty, and the mystery of this physical world… all while knowing we’re spiritual beings having a human experience.
